The bud changes from "Arjuna". In 2009, it was released by three famous Indian scientists, B.K. Banerji, S. C. Sharma and R. K. Roy, at the National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow, India. Named after Abhimanyu, the famous hero of Indian epic the Mahabharata. Sprawling habit, side branches underdeveloped. Different leaf varieties. The leaves are nearly elliptic, with a wedge at the bottom and awn at the top, slightly turned up on both sides, gray-green in the middle, and irregular cream-colored spots around. Bracts narrowly ovate, broad-bottomed, long pointed, reddish-purple. Flowering at the top of the branches.
